(Keg at Craft Beer Garden 2018) The beer poured clear and nearly black. Its head was medium sized and nearly white. Aroma had burnt malts, sweetness and chocolate. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, sweetness, cocoa powder, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, sweet and bitter. A pleasant, clean straightforward porter.

Bottle at home from The Cage. A subdued pour with a small head and some lasting lacing. The colour was a deep dark brown in the glass and there was a strong aroma of burnt and roasted malt. The taste was the same, burnt malt and more than a hint of alcohol. This was a showcase Baltic porter that let the malt flavour shine through. The uncharitable would call it one dimensional, but I think that misses the point. The alcohol was quite hot and I think the mouthfeel will improve with some aging. The wife was out, the kids were in bed reading and this was a very good start to the evening.
