500ml can from Aldi. Pours a crystal clear root beer color with ruby highlights and a khaki head with very good retention. Good lacing. Faint dark malt aroma. Smooth and clean dark malt flavor. I'd call this a mellow dark lager versus a true Schwarzbier. Very easy drinking. Medium-light body and medium-light carbonation. Zero bitterness.

Pour is a black with a small mocha head. Aroma is a little ashy malt with a little chocolate. Flavor is some bakers chocolate with some ashy malt. Maybe a bit thin in the only knock. Decent and for $7 a four pack of pounders well worth a pick up.

Canned (from Alko). Deep brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma is rye bread, some roasted malts and mild wooden tones. Flavour is tar, some grains, roast and mild rye bread. Watery and some slight metallic elements as it warms up.

Bottle: Pours clear, deep brown-red with a frothy beige head. Aroma of caramel, cola....a hint of soap. Taste is slightly roasted caramel malt, cola. A little on the watery side, but not bad..... A small amount of earthy/leafy bitter. A decent one to pick up at a bargain price when Aldi's offers it.

Chocolate, barley malt, and hay aroma. Dark chestnut brown with giant tan head. Moderately sweet chocolate, grainy malt, and mildly bitter hay and ash flavor. Good body. A pleasant surprise from Aldi US.

Can. Unclear deep brown. Beautiful off-white head. Aroma: toast, dried fruit, brown bread. Light body. Taste: medium dry. Bready, toasty, just a hint of coffee. And cardboard. Low bitterness. I would classify it as a weak to mediocre Dunkel.
