16 oz from the BA Extreme Beer Box. Smells like blueberry pancakes with maple syrup, heavy on the blueberries. Pours oily black with a half finger beige foam that falls into a ring quickly. Taste is fairly sweet and slightly tart with a moderately bitter edge; flavors of blueberry, coconut. Not getting a whole lot of barrel character, which would have elevated this to an all-time classic. As it is, it's still amazing. Lovely velvety mouthfeel. Wow, very delicious. This is how pastry stouts are done.

On tap at Great Notion - Georgetown, pours jet black with a small light brown head. Aroma is all blueberry on the nose—there's maybe a touch of coconut and barrel character if I look for it, but it's mostly blueberry. Flavour is intense, with robust bourbon barrels and blueberry duking it out, somehow cohesively. There's some coconut and a bit of molasses underneath. A strange combo of flavours but it somehow works. The more I drink, the more I get the chocolate and coconut underneath, but this is clearly mostly a function of blueberry, followed by the barrels. Good stuff.

Pours a dark brown, cola color, with small, tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is chocolate, blueberry, coconut. Flavor follows. Very sweet and smooth mouthfeel. ABV is well-hidden.**Update: I thought I was going to like this one, but after a few sips, the slightly sour edge to the beer got to be too much, coupled with the blueberry, and I wound up dumping most of this one. Really had kind of a gross taste too it overall.

Sampled from the tap at the Georgetown location. Pours black with a light brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma is surprisingly blueberry forward supported by dark grains, light roast and a hint of coconut. Flavor has noted dark grain and roast with a blueberry that grows through the finish and a hint of coconut.
