Bottle from Mein-Biershop.de. Unclear orange brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, wheaty, caramel, banana and yeasty. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish. 080413

Poured into a weizen glass from a bottle I picked up in Nuremburg area. Fait head faded fast, minimal lacing on glass. Note glass was rinsed from previous serving. Dark and hazy, smooth, mellow taste, without the bitterness you find in some dark beers. This is one of the best dunkel weizens i’ve tasted. I have a whole rack of twenty different dunkels arriving on Thursday. let’s see if this one can stay on top of the heap. worth trying if you can find it!

Bottle. Cloudy brown with a large pale beige head that settles to an inch then lasts well. Gentle aroma of toffee, bread, banana, cloves. Spicier taste than suggested in the aroma, with some pepper as well as cloves. Thinnish with light bread and toffee, some chocolate, decent wheaty tang. Not much banana to be found after the first whiff, but that’s not a drawback for me. Pleasant and refreshing.

Light and slightly sweet aroma with bready malt, some caramel and hints of toffee. Flavour is sweetish with much of bready and somewhat harsh malt with some toffee. Dry and nutty finish. Palate is a big too high on CO2.

Bottle. Cloudy amber body with a large, off-white frothy head. Aroma of banana, clove, toasted grain, caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Some tartness. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Not a lot of dark malt flavor, but nice taste of banana and clove.

Bottle from brewery shop. Hazy brown color with medium white head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit, roasted malt. Taste, roasted malt, red fruits, caramel,hints of chocolate. Banana in bittersweet finish. Good.
