Pours brown from the bottle and leaves a creamy head that soon dissipates. Lots of evident carbonation. Aroma is very weak overall, with roasted and alcohol notes. Taste is a nice mix of bitter and sweet, with the sweet dominating up front and the bitterness coming through near the finish. Otherwise, lacking in depth. A bit of alcohol near the end. Decent, but not worth getting again.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht röstmalzig, Karamell, etwas würzig. Geschmack röstmalzig, schokoladig, leicht würzig.

[Thanks to kevnic2008]. Bottle. Brown colour with an off-white head that quickly diminishes. Aroma is slightly toasted malts with light caramel. Flavor has notes of light toffee, moderate bittery. Mild bittery in the final with a dry mouthfeel.

Das Bier ist schön dunkelbraun, der Schaum wenig standhaft. Der Geruch ist süßlich-herb-würzig, aber insgesamt ziemlich schwach. Der Antrunk des St. Nikolaus ist vollmundig-scharf-stark. Das Bier ist süßlich-malzig, aber auch im Hauptteil hab’ ich eine alkoholische Schärfe auf der Zunge. Der Nachgeschmack ist malzig-trocken-süßlich, die alkoholische Schärfe hält penetrant an. Sehr süffig für ein Bockbier, aber für meinen Geschmack überdeckt die alkoholische Schärfe die schönen malzigen, vielleicht auch ins röstmalzig gehenden Aromen. Schade! Dark and strong, nice rich roast grain flavor. Dark brown in color with fast disappearing head. Good all-around, but lacking that something extra to put it over the top.

330ml bottle [Thanx Meike]. Clear mahogany colour with average, frothy to creamy, firm, minimally lacing, off-white head. Grainy, caramel malty and minimally dark malty aroma, hints of toast and hay, a nuttily touch. Taste is minimally sweet dark malty, some caramel, a nuttily touch; dry hoppy overtones in the finish.

10/12 Marko’s 0.5 l bottle, thanks for sharing! It poured copper body with smaller head. Strong caramel malty aroma. Much less intensive flavor, biscuit, caramel, bit of dark fruits with some metallic notes towards the end. Medium bodied brew. Caramel and slightly bitter finish with some alcohol felt. A decent dark bock, had shown some flaws but was rather enjoyable.
