This is the fifth edition of the Cider Sessions, our series of small batch, intriguing liquids for those that like to explore the outer limits of cider!
This one is a blend of our favourite apple, Egremont Russett (70%) with Dabinett and Chisel Jersey in roughly equal parts. All were co-fermented in tank and later moved into ex-red wine barrels. Here the cider stayed for a full two years, not neglected, but never quite fitting into other things we were doing or ready to make their debut. And then, one spring day, the barrel tasting revealed two gems.
Blended together, they have become a seamless whole, where purple wallflowers meet with sappy ripe apples, sweet spices, barrel perfume, juicy, succulent acids and beautifully soft tannins.

750ml bottle from Little Pomona. Golden colour, some short-lived bubbles on top and aroma of apple, wood barrel, vanilla, red wine. Taste is tangy, tart, apple, woody, oak barrel, red wine, earthy, with mellow acidity and drying tannin. Slick mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, dry tart & tannic finish. Very drinkable.
