Anniversary beer—happy 24th to Silke. Brown with a frothy, beige head of modest duration. Smells like pears dunked in whiskey and caramel and stored in an oak barrel. Taste is unexpectedly tart with an indistinct fruitiness. Finishes the same. Not unpleasant, almost refreshing.. there’s absolutely no sign of 9.6%, it’s not even warming. Surprisingly monotone though, lacking the depth of a really good quad. Ok.

Bottle at home, opaque dark ruby beer, small head. Aroma is wood, oak, vinous, fruit, bourbon. Taste is the same, quite vinous, tart, wood, oak, malt, some fruit, quite a heavy bourbon aftertaste. Not bad but the aftertaste is quite tart dry that lingers on.
