Like a charming lady, Cortigiana uses her weapons to seduce every palate. An Italian interpretation of a Belgian Blanche in perfect Birra Del Borgo style. We use alternative cereals in addition to barley malt: buckwheat, einkorn and a small percentage of oat flakes. The hops are moderate while the spices are generously added during the last step of the boiling: we add a good amount of ginger to the classic coriander and orange peel. The result is a very fresh, smooth and elegant Blanche with a unique aromatic profile.

[11/13] 750ml bottle. Almost clear gold with a white head. Floral aroma with oranges, apricots and tropical fruit. Honeyed grainy sweetness, tartish oranges, light tropical and stone fruit. Dry finish with moderate bitterness, some spices and an unusual, vaguely licorice-like herbal note. More refined than rustic, but engaging. [3.5]Some small bottles. A bit hazier, otherwise much the same. Floral aroma, slightly honeyed. Moderately bitter but quite dry at the end. Solid, could go up .1 or .2.

09/08/2013 Open Baladin (tap). Dorata limpida con riflessi verdognoli, schiuma bianca media, non molto persistente. Al naso sentori di pane, spezie, coriandolo, note erbacee e leggermente agrumate, una puntina di metallico. In bocca è abbastanza anonima e non pulitissima, si lascia comunque bere, nel finale un po’ di amaro erbaceo. Corpo leggero, carbonazione soft. Saison sbiadita e non in gran forma, non lascia il segno.

Tap at Open Baladin, Roma, 21/06/13. Clear pale golden with a thin off white head, good lacing ensues. Nose is citrus, pale malts, orange rind, light spice. Taste comprises grass, light farmy notes, touch of hops, bitter orange, citrus. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp finish. Adequate saison.

Bottle 75cl @ chris_o’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2008.Unclear hazy medium yellow color with a large, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, light to moderate hoppy, citrus, moderate yeasty, soap. Flavor is moderate sweet, light acidic and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (020808)

Bottled. Hazy yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, yeast and spices along with some mild wooden and quite light vanillaish notes. Flavour is vanilla, fruits, yeast and some nectary and spicy notes.

75 cL bottle, thanks to Thomas_E. Pours hazy yellow with a lacing white head. Mouldy slight off aroma. Slight sulphorish too. Thin mouthfeel. Slight citric into the finish which ends with a slight fruityness.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of lactose and lemon grass. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of lemon grass, leading to a dry and slightly bitter finish.
