We put the malt bill together with the idea of creating something complex, with good roastiness but trying to keep the astringency and acidity of black malts under control. To do so we layered a considerable amount of different kinds of dark caramel malts, and topped everything up with generous amounts of both roasted barley and a very dark torrefied barley malt in its de-husked version. To compensate for the roasted barley character, we aimed to have a high amount of residual sugar left in the finished beer.
The result is a pretty thick stout that landed at 9,1% ABV carrying notes of espresso coffee, coffee grounds, hints of bitter cacao and a touch of dried figs

On tap at Ørsted Ølbar. Black with a lasting off-white head. Roasted aroma with liquorice, molasses and figs. Sweetish, full bodied and smooth, roasted flavour with just a faint burned note.

Draught @ Bad Seed Beer Fest, Aalborg, 2024. Pours Black with a creamy head. Roast and massive licorice. Burnt and ashy turning it quite one sided.

--Sample, thanks fonefan! -- Black, minimal head. Quite intense licorice aroma. Sweet with full body and clean, rounded mouthfeel, Syrup and crude oil, licorice and coffee. Warming quite bitter finish.

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Black colour, small white head. Aroma is roasted some liquorice, some soy with mild alcohol. Flavour is liquorice, mild metallic and some soy tones with a bit coffee to it. Thin.

Tap.Black colour with small beige head.Aroma of licorice and soya nice with hint of roasted malt and mild coffee roasted and well balanced beer with mild finish.

Draft. A black beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, bread, and a bit of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, herbs, prunes, and caramel, leading to a dry finish.

Tap at the Prague Beer Fest 2024, huge thanks to the Slowburn people! Black to very dark brown body, off-white head. Chocolate, light smoke, roast and smoked plums of all things in the aroma. Grainy, smokey, lean taste, bit roasty, more smoked plums to unify the set of flavors that come from it. Good stuff!
