Voor de nieuwe Barrel Project heeft Kees gekozen voor vaten van Bowmore. Dit was de eerste distilleerderij van Islay en zij hebben destijds dan ook meteen de smaak neergezet die je nu bij alle whiskys uit deze streek vindt. Flink wat peated tonen dus, die tonen zijn na 26 maanden vatrijping ook in de Barley Wine getrokken om een mooi gelaagd bier te maken.

Can at home. Pours deep ruby, nose is peat smoke, vanilla fudge, caramel, some raspberry, taste is sweet and fruity up front, toffee, vanilla, dry peat smoke in the finish. Verging on medicinal, but pretty tasty.

330 ml can. Pours a dark brown with full head. Aromas of peaty iodine, caramel, dark fruit and toasted malts. Flavors of earthy peat, whisky, dark caramel, sourish dark fruit and bready malts. Good though peat is emphasized

330ml can from RAD Beer, Shropshire. A very dark brown coloured pour with a medium/thinnish beige head on top. Rich, boozy, whiskey, caramel, smoke on the nose. Tastes very rich, peat, whiskey, smoke, caramel, dates. A decent barleywine but it's quite heavy on the peat.

Can at home, 17th February 2024. Pours a very dark brown. Aroma is peat, whiskey, liquor and barrel. Taste is intense, liquor, sweet, dark fruits and wood, barrel and peated whiskey. I love it, loads of complexity and very enjoyable

Blik 33cl thuis. IBU32. Zoet, whisky, flink boozy, melasse, wat syrupy, medicinaal, hop (Simcoe), chocolade, wat hout, vanilletonen, smokey, peaty, redelijk zacht, fruittonen. (27-1-2024).

0.33 l can from 'Rebelbeercans', best before December 2027. Black with a thin, frothy, quickly diminishing, beige head. Intensely sweetish-malty, fairly smoky-medicinal, slightly fruity aroma of massive peat, iodine, whisky, molasses and raisins. Fairly sweet, malty, heavily smoky-medicinal, gently fruity and quite boozy taste of molasses, raisins, big peat, iodine, whisky, coconut, vanilla and hints of green apple, followed by a long, moderately bitter, boand smoky-medicinal finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Intense and heavy stuff, peaty af, rather fruity, probably too sweet. Don't really know what to think of it, quite enjoyable but at the same time a bit messy, surely not a bad one but also not Kees' best.
