0.33 l can from 'Rebelbeercans' at 8.4% abv. Clear, very dark ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity aroma of molasses, raisins, prunes, vanilla and bourbon. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity taste of molasses, caramel, marzipan, bourbon, vanilla, raisins, prunes and hints of chocolate, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, a little boozy finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice Scotch Ale, quite pleasant, maybe a bit too thin but well-executed barrel-aging.
Tap at Fierce Bar in Rose Street, Edinburgh - deep russet body with a short lived white top. Lots of smoke and whisky in the nose. Malty sweetness with a big alcohol burn at the end. Nice, but expected better.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 23/11/23. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a beige cap that veers edgewards. Nose is mellow bourbon, dark malts, fruit cake mix, dates, figs, toffee, herb. Taste comprises fruit slice, toffee, brown sugar sprinkle, caramel, dates, bourbon kiss. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced bourbon kiss. Solid well balanced BA affair.

Dark ruby beer, thick off white head. Smells sweet and boozy, with a good whack of caramel and malt. Flavour has caramel, malt, bourbon, a little wood, a dash of aniseed. Big, sweet warm finish. Decent body. Very drinkable.

Keg at Fierce. It pours darkest brown to black with a small, bubbly khaki head. The aroma is rather lovely... big on the bourbon front, sweet, sappy, lovely vanilla, toffee, fudge, cacao, malt loaf, dried fruits, raisin, cherry, date and bourbon soaked oak. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, heady notes of bourbon soaked oak, toffee, vanilla fudge, light tannin, mellow alcohol warmth, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, date, fruit cake, touch of spice and light umami/liquorice edge to it with a smooth finish fading out to some dryness. Medium+ body and soft carbonation. This is right up my street. Love it.
