Inspired by Flanders Reds of old, Crimson King represents our longest aged and most complicated releases to date. It combines four brews of different ages: one batch was aged for three months, another for four months with aged hops, another for nearly two years in tank and the final portion aged for one year in whisky casks.
This blend was refermented and aged for an additional month on locally grown Scottish strawberries, cherries and blackcurrants (totalling 250g/l). Deep complexities abound in this aged beast. Behold the Crimson King!

Oh fabulous. Like a combination of the quality Belgian fruit beers - but on steroids! And a cheeky adaptation of the first King Crimson album cover on the label. I wonder if Barry Godber (whose self-portrait it was!) approves...

Bottle from Cork and Cask. Pours clear dark charry with a pink-tinged head. Aromas of blackcurrant and cherry, some woody funk. Taste is fruity, spicy, and with a edge of whisky at the back. The strawberries have got a bit lost, but it's a lovely drink.

Keg @ House of Grain. Deep unclear crimson appearance, off-white head. Lovely well rounded juicy character with a pleasant cherry side, soft underlying imami, restrained sourness. There are tangier, more acidic out there .. but it's still a hugely enjoyable flanders red.

Ultramørk kirsebærrød. Skumring. Bæraroma. Smaken syrlige bær. Blanding av kirsebær & jordbær. Mest jordbær i en syrlig avslutning. Still not my cup of tea.
