Next up in our DDH single hop series we look to New Zealand. The freshest 2023 harvested Motueka from Clayton topped up with Kohia Motueka Hop Kief (a blend of Motueka hop oils and passionfruit) from Freestyle farms were used in this single hop hazy pale ale showcase.

Juicy and hazy, you can expect flavours of sweet pulpy mango, zingy passionfruit and limey mojito.

440ml can. Murky yellow, big white head. Aroma of lime, passionfruit. Taste dominated by limey goodness, very zesty, a hint of passionfruit, tropical fruits, creamy smoothness but it's not sweet, somewhat dry-ish finish I suppose. Excellent Motueka gear. Drank side by side with Track's DDH Motueka and it was pretty much identical.

Draught at Two Flints Brewery Tap. Shared with Finn. Unclear yellowish body, clingy lacing from a filmy layer. Moderate tropical aromas, with scent of citrus. Wheat fruity flavoured, a lemony twist to it. Soft mid-sweet fruity end. Just ok. (Windsor, 17.03.2024).

Can. Hazy yellow gold beer, decent bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, semi dry and with a good fine minerally crispness. Airy malts, I think bringing the dryness, but sweet. I often bitch about the faded nature of Nelson or the changed nature of Galaxy and Mosaic, so once again, I would like to point out that the recent batches of Motueka are the best ever in my book. Crisp piney key lime, a light floral element. Yeah, some fruit juice enhancement from one of these hop keef things or whatever the fuck they are called, but just lovely Motueka front and centre.

Delt med Rune. Gusjegrågul. Veldig uklar. Kritthvitt filmskum. Litt hveteølaroma. Banan. Smaken sitrusfrukt. Tørr, lett bitter etter hvert. På den søte side.
