Bleiki fíllinn is a collaboration between Borg and micro brewery Gæðingur in Skagafjörður, and the name of the beer is a nod to the renowned brewery Delirium Tremens, who use a pink elephant on their bottles. Delirium tremens is a hallucinatory condition caused by severe alcohol withdrawal, and pink elephants are used to symbolize the hallucination.
Used here, the pink elephant carries a word of warning for the time of year when people tend to have a drink or two. Borg and Gæðingur want to remind people of the dangers of alcohol consumption, that drinking too much has consequences, and encourage them to drink with moderation to have a good start to the new year.

Big fizzy-creamy longlasting head, nice hazy light red-orangy color. Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish floral, weeds, hay, minerals, sour grass, dusty cellar, paper, bark, flowers. Taste is slightly dry and harsh mineraly, weeds, bark, medicine, paper, leafs, harsh hops, dusty cellar, flowers. Medium bitterness, harsh floral mouthfeel. Meh!

Keg at Kex Hostel - Reykjavik. Pours hazy red with a creamy, pink head. Citrus in the nose, grapefruit zest, lemon peel. Light to medium sweet flavour with notes of flinty minerals, some rindy bitterness, more grapefruit, lemon zest, faint berry skin. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Lightly resinous on the finish, with more citrus zest, light rind, further impressions of berries. Solid.

Danish pint (shared by some random bloke at koht, thank you!). Pours pink-red. Aroma is beet, berries, fruits, hops. Flavor is more beet juice, and more berries, some fruits, citrus. Overall: the sample was really small, but it was enough to know that this one really is not worth the 10+€ price. --- Beer merged from original tick of BLEIKI FÍLLINN NR.C6 on 01 Sep 2017 at 14:50
