Port Jackson is a not a porter. Port Jackson is not a stout. It’s a lightly roasted dark ale with a hint of chocolate flavouring, brewed for the sake of easy-drinking while still maintaining full flavour.

Gravicask at The 14th Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival 2022, Marquee Bar. Shared with Finn. Black in the glass, spotty lacing, beige head. Roasted chocolate malty aromas. Mixed taste of dark malts, earth, and dark fruits. Drying close with roasted malts. Easy to drink. Decent, but short. (Nottingham 13.10.2022).

20/2/2020. Cask at the Chelmsford Winter Beer & Cider Festival 2020. Pours very dark brown with a bubbly of-white head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, dark fruits, caramel, nut and flowers. Moderate sweetness and light bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily and watery texture, bit above average carbonation.

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Smooth and semi dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Smooth but thin and tangy malts, a little dry malt cream. Tangy dark fruits, also quite thin. Touch of paper. Light dry finish. Hard to dislike but also even harder to raise an eyebrow on. Crushingly average.
