Our ongoing experimentation with utilising oak and ageing our beers continues. After the phenomenally successful Quinquennium and Quinquennium Reserve set the standard for our big, robust imperial stouts last year as incredible first entries into our barrel ageing program, we took stock and really were astounded at where we’ve come in such a short amount of time. From those incredibly humble beginnings as a two-man setup churning through back-breaking fourteen hour brew days, we find ourselves where we are today – working with some of the brightest talents in the brewing industry today, giving them a platform to flourish and excel at their profession. Black Brook has been brewed in honour of those humble beginnings and with pride in our Welsh roots. Welsh Whisky casks, themselves formerly Madeira Sherry and Bourbon casks, impart decadent and rich flavours

Panda at home, thanks to Graham Grumbo, 04/06/24. Pitch black with a khaki cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is dark malts, chocolate, coconut, light spice, molasses, toasted brown sugars. Taste comprises dark malts, booze, a little heat, spice, molasses, toffee, dark chocolate, cacao nibs. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Tidy sipping impy with an old skool edge so never gets silly sweet.

Can thanks to my bro. If pours jet black with a small yellowy tan head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, dark roasted malt, fruity, jammy, vanilla, toasted marshmallow, rocky road, chocolate, nutty, praline, vanilla fudge, forrero rocher and fruity whisky. The taste is drying, bitter - sweet, dark roasted malt, some umami, liquorice allsorts, burnt toast, cacao nibs, praline, dark/dried fruits, dried cranberry, fruit & nut chocolate, charred, burnt toast, warming booze, some fruity whisky, toffee and dark chocolate with a drying, charred finish. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. Big, toothy and punchy. Fun stuff.

473mL can. Pours very dark brown with minimal beige head. Aroma has lovely roasted malt and smooth whiskey in good balance. Flavour is very rich but not overwhelming. Tasting notes are similar with some red wine tones from the Madeira. Very well-balanced in both flavour and richness. Mouthfee smooth with boozy warmth on the finish. Phenomenal.
