Welcoming back another member of the family this year, Bourbon County Bananas Foster Stout makes its debut on the national stage. This recipe was first released in 2017 as Bourbon County Brand Proprietor’s Stout only to Chicago drinkers. Beloved by many, this release is especially near and dear to our innovation brewer Quinn Fuechsl’s heart.
At the time when we first released this beer, the brewery hadn’t experimented with bananas much. However, Quinn had a good feeling that the fruit, along with almond and cassia bark, would be perfect ingredients in a bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout — indeed, he was right. Sure to bring a bit of flair to your palate, this decadent pour is well-balanced with deep caramelization, aromas of fresh baked banana bread and warm notes of cinnamon and almond.

Opaque colour not much head. Roasted, cinnamon spicey aroma with hints of banana. Full-bodied. Quite xmas spicey version. Some bourbon, cinnamon, ginger?, banana. Interesting, warming, but a bit too gimmicky version.

Malm� May 2024 tasting - sweet dark and roasted malty with lots of caramelised banana, chocolate, full body, banana laced sweet dark malty finish. Great stuff.

Taster. Black, with a fair, bubbly, tan head. The nose is caramelized sugar, brandy, maple, vanilla, walnut, dark chocolate, and espresso. Sweet and sugary, with a mellow, roasty bitterness. Heavy body, syrupy, and a bit boozy. Beautiful and decadent.

2023 bottle from a friend. Thanks for making this available Matt! Pours a deep brown to black with a small bit of beige head that lingers, then dissipates. Almond and banana laffy taffy on the nose with aromas of cinnamon-like cassia bark, bourbon and light vanilla as it warms. Bourbon soaked banana and woody cinnamon on the palate with vanilla and almond. Not overly sweet with some oak and bourbon that lingers on the finish. Quite nice and drinking well at about 14 months.

0,5l bottle at home. black color, small coffee colored head. smells vanilla, cinnnamon, spices, nutty, bourbon. very nice smell. full body, light carbonation. tastes cinnamon, spices, nutmeg, light cloves, bourbon, vanilla, nutty. finishes lightly sweet with notes of spices, vanilla and nutmeg. nice stuff, rather gimmicky, very good to drink overall.
