Kloster beer saw the light in 1995, when Gotland Brewery opened. One can therefore conclude that it is the market's first färsköl with stand as trendsetters for other Swedish färsköl. The malt comes from both Sweden and Finland. The hops from Germany and the USA. The yeast from the Scottish Highlands and the unique water from Gotland. The result is a trend-setter!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks David Cohen. Clear deep golden with almost no head. Aroma has light maltiness, a bit of oxidation, a bit of stale hops and light fruitiness. Sweetish flavor with a bit of malt, light fruitiness and a decent bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

Hazy golden with a white head - Nice floral hoppy aroma with some yeast notes in the back - nice malt body with some floral hops and some spicy yeast - spicy yeasty finish with some hop bitterness in the back as well - good and somewhat refreshing

Man in the Moon, Stockholm tap: Pours an orange color with a white head. Aroma is citrus, malt, floral, and dirt. Taste and body are both rather light. Mild hoppage. Mild malts and slight fruitiness. Yeasty aftertaste.

33cl bottle from Systembolaget. Pours slightly hazy golden with white head. Fruity aroma with yeast, malt and hints of tropical fruits. Mild and fruity, medium sweet with a lightly bitter finish. Hint of hops. Decent, but nothing special.

Bottle @ Ms Gotlandia. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Fruity, almost multivitamin-like aroma. Banana! Quite crisp. Smooth and bodied like a wheat. Disturbing heavy carbonation. Strange and unfittingly funky. Overall: quite drinkable even though less experimentation would have made it even more so.

Bottle and on tap at Nunnan, Visby (to be prefered). Hazy golden colour with an off white head. Yeasty, fruity and moderate sweet nose. Medium sweet malty flavour, moderate fruity, light spicy and some caramel. I miss the big 0,5l bottles, and this beer is a lot better on tap!

330 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget and consumed on January 27. Pours cloudy yellowish brown with a big fizzy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, spicy and malty with some dark bread, white pepper, coriander and orange peal. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with lots of dark bread and some spices. Finish is shortlived, malty and slightly bitter.

Draft @ SBWF2011. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy aroma. Sweetish malty fruity flavor with hoppy hints. Has a fruity malty weak hoppy finish.
