Kloster beer saw the light in 1995, when Gotland Brewery opened. One can therefore conclude that it is the market's first färsköl with stand as trendsetters for other Swedish färsköl. The malt comes from both Sweden and Finland. The hops from Germany and the USA. The yeast from the Scottish Highlands and the unique water from Gotland. The result is a trend-setter!

Lätt grumlig bärnstensfärgad vätska med medelhögt vitt skum. Tydlig lätt kådig US-humle doft. Stor humlesmak åt tall-/ granskottshållet, fruktig, lätt sötma. lite oljig munkänsla, syrligt frisk. Men också lite platt plåtig eftersmak och beska. På det hela taget en väldigt trevlig öl åt US-pale ale hållet. Lite konfunderad över namnet. Vad är klosterkaraktären på detta öl?

How: Draught.
Where: The Bishops Arms Savoy, Malmö.
Appearance: Dark golden colour with a small off-white head.
Aroma: Fruit, hops, sweet malt.
Body: Medium body and carbonation.
Flavour: Fruit, hops, malt. Bitter finish.


Old rating 2011-02-21. 5-3-6-3-10 = 2.7
Draught. Unfiltered. Golden amber colour with small head. Fruity aroma. Fruity taste with some bitterness.

330ml Bottle (Tack Nina :) ) - Gold/amber in colour. Malty aroma with hints of peach and mango. Fruity aroma with hints of peach and mango. Fruity and hoppy taste with notes of dried fruit and mango.

Hjemme 13 Sep 10. Flaske 0,33l fra Systembolaget i Luleå. Aprikosfarget. Lavt skum. Krydret & fruktig aroma. ”Lett” på smak. Smaken er også litt krydret & fruktig. Svakt syrlig ettersmak. Mye bunnfall. Et godt sommerøl. KI=6

Bottle. Slightly hazy orange with a medium off-white head. Rather weak aroma and taste of bread, yeast and fruit. Short aftertaste, light to medium body. Boring.

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Light malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Average light bitter finish. Watery palate.

Hazy amber with a medium wized off white head. Aroma had floral hops, hints of pine and malty notes. Flavour had hops, malt and caramelish notes. Finished mildly bitter.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours orange with a small white head. Smells of wheat and a little hops. Sweet malty and ligth fruit taste.
