Kloster beer saw the light in 1995, when Gotland Brewery opened. One can therefore conclude that it is the market's first färsköl with stand as trendsetters for other Swedish färsköl. The malt comes from both Sweden and Finland. The hops from Germany and the USA. The yeast from the Scottish Highlands and the unique water from Gotland. The result is a trend-setter!

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a fully gone head. Mild citrusy aroma with a mild hoppy note. Mild yeasty and hoppy flavoured with a light acidic and pilsner malty base. Light solid hoppy and bitter finish. Reminds me a lot about the Tipopils.

Bottle. It poured a slightly hazy golden-orange body under a beige head. Slightly sourish in the aroma, but mostly grainy and fruity. The flavor luckily lacked the sourness, still had the grains and fruityness, as well as some bitterness. Medium body and a short finish. Sure, it’s a drinkable beer, but I see no need to repeat it. 500ml bottle from Systembolaget consumed at my hotel room in Stockholm. Unfiltered. Hazy orange body. Only a tiny little head. Fruity yeastiness in both aroma and flavour. Tartness impression. Grainy and crispated. Not my kind of beer (03.12.2006).

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 20 June 2006) Colour is amber, with a foamy, disappearing head. Hazy. Nose is fruity with hints of bubble gum and citrus (grapefruit), slightly roasted with some toffee notes, at the same time sourish with some hops. Complex aroma. Taste is fruity and sourish with citrus (grapefruit), yeast and some butter-scotch. There are hops here as well, not very bitter though, more of the fruity kind. Medium body, rather dry, hoppy (but too short) finish. Complex and interesting, but lacking something extra.
