In this beer we have fused the best bits of Red Ale with the best bits of Barley Wine styles and then zipped them up a bit from the usual Barley Wine 8% strength to 10%. The main characteristic comes from using crystal malt, our signature late and dry hopping and a lengthy fermentation prior to bottling. This is the softest and least obviously alcoholic in our Imperial range.

0,33L bottle (from Drink Shop). Pours golden-amber with off-white head. Aroma is caramel, malt, fruits. Flavor is sweet, caramel, fruits, herbal. Finish is fruity bitter. Overall: very nice brew.

330ml bottle. Redish amber colour with a small, creamy white head. Aroma has caramel, berries, and mild yeast. Flavour has caramel, and malts. Warming and smooth, very low carbonation.

5th July 2014 Almost clear rich amber beer, residual bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth with mild minerally carbonation. Smooth malts with traces of unsweet caramel and cream. Modest spice. Mellow brandy flavours. Mild marmalade provides contrast. Smooth finish. Pretty drinkable and nicely aged.

A 2012 bottle. Clear amber, a few cream colour bubbles dissipate quickly. Relatively thin malts but flavoursome. Caramel and spicy ripe and dried fruits. Touch of citric peel. Light crispy and mildly spicy finish. This has held up really really well.

Pours a hazy reddish orange appearance with a thin light brown head. Somewhat oxidized / cardboard, caramel, tangerine aroma. Somewhat goopy and boozy though not overly harsh. Low carbonation. Toasted bread malty flavor. Ehhh.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons calais. Clear light brown beer lasting beige head. Sticky sweet malt aroma. Some obvious alcohol in the mouth. Some toast. Fruity. Orange peel. It’s pretty decent. Not hot on the finish just a little sting. I would recommend it.

Bottle shared at JF’s, cheers James, 17/08/13. Lightly hazed amber with a thin white head that dissipates edgeward. Nose is Caramelised sugars, dark pitted fruit, toffee. Taste comprises toffee, sugars, light alcohol, dark fruits, dates, prunes. Medium bodied with bite, moderate carbonation. Drinkable affair but not much depth for a 10% number, however the booze is well integrated.

Draught @ Olbar, Elmegade 2, 2200 Copenhagen, Denmark.Clear medium amber orange colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, caramel, fruity, light alcohol, moderate hoppy, fruity. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, nutty, caramel, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily and sticky, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20130502]

33cl bottle Westholme Stores, Goring - vintage 2012, bottle number 12907. A bright copper colour with a thin rim of white head; fruity aroma; thin, but syrupy in the mouth, with a butterscotch flavour; then a rounded dry bitterness with a touch of burning alcohol to the finish. Pleasant, but rather straightforward.
