Icelandic dry stout, again from a to me unknown brewery so thanks to my girlfriend again for sharing the can, brought fresh from Iceland. Medium thick, densely structured, membrane-lacing, pale greyish beige head, blackish robe with thin chestnut brown edges. Aroma of toasted hazelnuts, brown bread crust, black chocolate without sugar, a sweaty accent, ferrous spring water, haemoglobin, bayleaf, charcoal, burnt currants, beef ‘fond’, the graphite from a pencil. Dryish onset, clean and streamlined, some vague dried fig and dried blackcurrant, medium carb but still a tad prickly in a fine-bubbled way: smooth oily body, light umami accents (beef stock) gliding over a dry-caramelly core with thick toasty, bittering edges, becoming roasted bitter and coffeeish in the end, a bitterness enhanced by dried-wormwood-like hops, lasting long but in a smooth, well-aligned, satisfying manner. Thoroughly solid, straightforward, old-fashioned dry stout – the stout world, sometimes drowning in sugariness these days, needs more ‘retro style’ beers like this.

330ml can, many thanks to Ingeborg for bringing this one from Dokkan Brugghús to Tromsø. Shared with Finn. Black in the glass, decent fawn-coloured head, fair lacing. Roasted dark malty smell, scent for dark fruits. Fine balanced taste of dark malts, bread and chocolate, and mild dark fruits. Nicely roasted bitter ending. Rounded mouthfeel. Tasty stout. (Tromsø, 18.06.2024).

Spandert av Rune. Delt i WCveien. Svart. Høyt mokkafarget kremaktig skum som daler sakte. Teppelacing. God sjokoladearoma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken kakao & røstet malt. Søt tørr avslutning

Full snifter at the Brugghus! Nose is roasted coffee with a hint of caramel. Black with a medium tan head. Flavor is coffee, light bitterness, and a hint of Kraft caramels. Great for a lower alcohol coffee stout!
