Hop Devil Grill, NY tap ($7): Pours copper with a white head. Aroma is a modicum of hops along with some pale malt. Taste is forgettable. Really, that is the best way to describe this. I guess they teamed up with Dan Patrick to make the lamest beer they could.

Draft. Pours a clear light amber. Aroma of light citrus and pine. Taste is light bitter. Meh, this is sub-par even for red hook.

12 oz bottle from a six pack. Dan Patrick...brewer? Okay...Pours filtered copper with a collapsing off-white head. Aroma is pretty neutral, but some caramel notes come out as it warms. Not smelling very hoppy, sadly. Taste is sweet with a bitter edge. Flavor is a little corny, bland, caramel a little bit. Body thin, texture watery. I understand they’re trying to make a sessionable beer here, but there’s more flavor available to a talented brewer who wants to make a low alcohol beer. This is super boring and not hop-forward the way I like an APA. I always feel guilty breaking a six pack to buy one single beer to rate so I don’t usually do that with craft beer anymore. I went ahead and bought a six pack of this, though. Doh! According to Papazian, this isn’t true craft beer, though. I should have thought of that.
