Bottle. Rating #5400. Pours a brownish amber color with a small off-white head. Has a smooth malty caramel and dark fruit aroma with some woody hints. Sweetish malty woody vanilla flavor with hints of caramel and dark fruit. Has a sweetish smooth woody vanilla finish with hints of caramel in the aftertaste.

22oz bottle, with stupid wax. The beer is headless unless I agitate my glass but that fades quickly as well. Color of the beer is a very reddish dark copper with little clarity. Aroma is STRONG, sticky malts with alcoholic sticky bourbon but not "hot." Its a bit burnt and light autolysis. Sweet with light chewy chocolate. Flavor is similar, not as heavy as I thought it would be. Yet the booze, autolysis, and heat are a bit much but still drinkable. Its not bad but not my type of beer.

22 ounce bottle courtesy of Brewengineer. Thanks! Sampled at the 11th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 4/17/10. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a thin white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of oak, toffee, caramel, and a bourbon that makes itself known but doesn’t overwhelm like many do. The taste is toffee, caramel, fairly bitter citrus hops, vanilla, maple, bourbon. Medium bodied. Well balanced. Tasty as all hell. This is a damn good beer. I could drink this all day.

bottle at RBWG, pours deep red with a sweet fruity aroma of yeast and tropical fruit. Super sweet bubblegum and toffee flavors. Thin barrel elements and a strong alcohol burn in the finish.

Thanks Ditmier for sharing this one. Light golden amber color, small fleeting head. Rich smooth soft malty sweet nose. Just lovely. Full bodied and malty. A touch of hops but the malt and alcohol is forward. The barrel flavors are also pronounced but not overdone. very nice.

Bottle - thanks to Ditmier. Dark caramel pour with an ample beige head. Fantastic nose! Rich in maltiness, caramel, faded hops, and the bourbon barrel presence compliments the scent rather than dominates it. A perfect 10 for the sniffer. The taste is rich in caramel and faded hops. A little dark fruit and toffee. The bourbon barrel presence is more prominent. Excellent.

Big thanks to fogdog for sharing this rare treat. Pours garnet with brown edges and off white head. The aroma brings up notes of oak, vanilla, bourbon, some caramel and an inviting thin layer of dark fruitiness. The taste is smooth even rich goodness with a very nice mix of vanilla, caramel and oak to start. It then picks up some bourbon and booze heat by midway. It gets a bit boozy and more bourbony and a tad chemical boozy into the finish. The taste started strong and amazing but finished a bit rough. Some age should smooth that out but I’m sure there will be almost none of this around by that time.
