What kind of madman would cross an imperial stout with a pumpkin ale? Our brewers, as it turns out. This rich, chocolatey frankenbrew is dry-spiced and scary good. Boo.

Can from radimd, many thanks. Dark brown with medium beige head. Aroma of dark malt, coffee, light pumpkin. Taste, solid malty base with dark malt, chocolate, cardamon, cinnamon. Could be more pumpkin, but still enjoyable beer.

This beer proves you don't have to add gobs of spices to make a good pumpkin beer. 12 oz. can purchased at Total Wine - The Rim, San Antonio, TX. Pours a clear super dark mahogany color with a tan head and very good retention. Decent lacing. Soft pumpkin pie spices aroma. Very dark roasted stout flavor with a perfect amount of pumpkin pie spices to enhance the flavor without dominating. Great balance. Medium body. Dry, creamy finish. The 6.66% ABV is invisible. Well done!

Can from Brewers Haven. Aroma is sweet, pumpkin, roast grains. Taste adds some of the pumpkin pie spice, very mild, not enough to cover the base flavors. Smooth and tasty.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread/crust, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, pumpkin, and spice notes; with great strength. Taste of big pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread/crust, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/roast/spice bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread/crust, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.5%. Overall this is a delicious pumpkin stout! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/spicy finish. Not super roasty for a stout, but really adequate. Helps showcase the spices better too. The pumpkin fruit and spice presence was exceptional. Great balance with the base beer without overdoing it. A very enjoyable offering.
