In the Barrel Aged Series, FoxTown Beer Crew wants to show how wood ageing can influence the flavour of a beer. Cask2023/04 is a Pinot Noir Wine Barrel where our Quad the Fox aged for 7 months, giving slightly acidic notes from the wine and complements the raisin flavours allready present in the base beer.

Dark brown, fairly thick head. The aroma has lots of plummy raisin fruits, a vinous note, a touch of alcohol. The palate is rich, well-balanced, dark fruit notes, light esters, soft body, gentle carbonation. The pinot noir barrel brings the vinous notes and lean tannins that combine with the alcohol for a robust finish.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany brown with a medium beige head. Nose brings out lots of red wine barrels, light tannins, nice Belgian yeast spiciness, and a touch of candi sugar. Flavour has a wonderful Belgian yeast expression, accentuated by the red wine barrels, a touch of spiciness, tannins, and low-level sweetness. Great Belgian yeast utilization as always and wonderfully vinous. Lovely.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with moderate head. Aromas of oaky vinous wood, dark fruit, dark berries, and toasted malts. Flavors bring out the Pinot Noir as a dusty dry read wine, with dried fruit, oak, and toasted malts. Unique and complex. Excellent wine BA.

Bottle shared at tasting. Unclear brown color, red hue when held into the light. Average sized beige head. Aroma is a bit faint, light hints of pinot noir I'd say but probably because I've already read it on the label. Flavor is malts, wine-ish influence, pinot noir again I guess. Hard to describe but I really like it!
