Bucegi was brewed for the first time at Reghin in 1984 and it has rapidly become the most valued beer brand of Romania. Distilled in all major breweries of the country (Timisoara, Miercurea Ciuc, Cluj, Constanta, Bacau, Hateg, Suceava, Oradea, Galati, Brasov, Sibiu, Pitesti, and Buzau), for export means as well, Bucegi turned out to be the dominant national brand.

Ignored in the beginning of the transition years, Bucegi was withdrawn from the market in 1995. BRAU UNION Romania re-launched the brand in February 2002, wishing to fasten a tradition with the past and its good things.

Having been close to the Romanian consumers through the hardships of the past, Bucegi stands for friendship and honesty.

Bucegi is brewed in Arad, Miercurea Ciuc, Constanta, and Hateg. Bucegi is a popular blonde beer with an alcohol concentration of 4.5% and an original extract of 10.3%.

0.5 l can. Cheap commercial lager with all its characteristics, nothing memorable. Too sweet for me.

(Bottle 50 cl) Very pale, small discreet head. Pure and mild flavoured, light lager/pilsener type. Good thirstquencher - and that’s about it. 120503 2.1

500ml can picked up at World Foods in Bristol. Medium golden pour, fizzy white head. Sweet, grainy aroma, corn. Taste is sweet and grainy, narrowly avoiding cooked vegetable flavors. Tingle at the finish.

50 cl can. A pale golden pour with an off-white head. Mild aromas of iron, straw, grass, a hint of honey. Dry, watery, slightly bitter. Abrupt aftertaste. Quite unimpressive.
