Bucegi was brewed for the first time at Reghin in 1984 and it has rapidly become the most valued beer brand of Romania. Distilled in all major breweries of the country (Timisoara, Miercurea Ciuc, Cluj, Constanta, Bacau, Hateg, Suceava, Oradea, Galati, Brasov, Sibiu, Pitesti, and Buzau), for export means as well, Bucegi turned out to be the dominant national brand.

Ignored in the beginning of the transition years, Bucegi was withdrawn from the market in 1995. BRAU UNION Romania re-launched the brand in February 2002, wishing to fasten a tradition with the past and its good things.

Having been close to the Romanian consumers through the hardships of the past, Bucegi stands for friendship and honesty.

Bucegi is brewed in Arad, Miercurea Ciuc, Constanta, and Hateg. Bucegi is a popular blonde beer with an alcohol concentration of 4.5% and an original extract of 10.3%.

Mild herber Beginn, muffig. Dann trocken werdend, gleichzeitig steigt die Herbe. Das Bier bleibt aber laff und nicht ganz harmonisch. Wässriger, gering herb-würziger Abgang. Noch trinkbar. 7/6/7/6/6/6

big brown plastic bottle 2000ml. -from BILLA Timisoara. Yellow coloured, few streams of carbonation, medium sized white head that went away slowly, almost neutral nose (just hint of grain). Sweet malty, slight grainy and some notes of cardboard in the finish. Average Eastern European beer.

Bottled. Clear pale yellow, rich airy head. Aroma of boiled vegetables and green apples. Light bodied with unfirm sloppy mouthfeel. Lots of adjuncts that creates a flavour of apple juice and garbage. No bitterness.

Yellow color, not much head. Grainy, papery nose with sticky pear aroma. Watery ... Grainy, sweety malty, harsh finish. Some distant skunky hops. Crap.

I’ve noticed many raters frequently use the term ’bland’ for a lot of beers, appropriate or not. Now listen guys: You don’t fully realize what a ’bland’ beer is before you have sampled Bucegi! A remnant of the communist era, Bucegi was withdrawn from the market in 1995, but re-launched in February 2002, to nourish some Romanians’ nostalgic sentiments of the good old bad old times.
