During the tasting sessions of the beers out of our barrel-aging program, inspiration often strikes and strikes hard. The beers are so complex, full of nuances and flavor, that even though they could stand independently, they beg to be refined.
Adding an extra layer of luxury could be finding a peppery note, leading us to add black pepper. A lemony tang gets us to infuse the beer with citrus and a rummy, coconut vibe makes us go totally overboard with toasted coconut and whatever Caribbian flavors we can think of.
Upon tasting the beer we refined into Hot Shot, we found a real cocktail spirit- great shot-essence. That thick base Mega stout mixed up with whatever magic heavenly Bourbon barrels give. And, as far as shots go, a Swedish classic is the one with herb liqueur tasting of vanilla, anise, star anise, hot coffee, and lightly whipped cream, all layered into tricolor perfection. And that’s what we wanted to emulate and refine, using barrel-aged beer. Bottoms up. Whooo!

CBH2025. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is chocolaty some liquorice, vanilla, wood and some mild syrupy and quite evident alcohol tones to it. Flavour is rather similar, but actually is rather drinkable, although a bit on the sweet side. Luckily the other elements do balance this brew out a bit,

Spicy, herbal and sweetish with some roastiness and slightly boozy liquor notes. A bit heavy

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 08/08/24. Black with a tan cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is dark chocolate, coffee bean, vanilla, spice, dark malts, toffee fudge. Taste comprises chocolate, brown sugar melt, molasses, spice, hot bite, toffee fudge, touch of liquorice, coffee bean. Full bodied, fine to light oily carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid impy ... kept will in check for 16%.

Can. Opaque dark black brown beer, small tan head. Smooth and viscous palate, decent fine minerally carbonation. Wonderfully rich dark chocolate malts, a liqueur strength Ice Cream van chocolate syrup. Mild vanilla and chocolate cake with a cinnamon spicy bitter vibe before the fairy light finish. Cinnamon chocolate linger with a boozy spicy linger. Rich and rewarding.

@ Hop & Vine Stockholm. 330 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with short tan head that settles quickly. Aromas of icing sugar, chocolate syrup, vanilla, and slick roasted malts. Flavors of chocolate syrup, dark sugars and fudge, dull anise seed, vanilla, and oily roasted malts. Creamy and hot. Can’t really get any barrel aging or coffee but the sweetness and malts probably drown these out. Hate to think of what the residual sugars would be on the 16% beer. Diabetes in a can…

Solid and lovely impey. Well balanced and no bourbon bomb Complete black pour and a small beige layer Nice intensity in the aroma. Decent sweetness for a beer like this. Soft carbonation level and a well masked alcohol level Dangerously easy to drink Dark malt, fruity, vanilla, oak and chocolate in the flavor [On tap at Pils in Göteborg, Sweden]
