In the early days of Struise, Pannepot had a few different versions. Pannepot (regular) / pannepeut (slightly less rosted malts) , Pannepot Reserva (aged on wine barrels), and pannepot Grand Reserva (aged on wine + calvados barrels) . Other barrel types ( such as Port) were released under the 'Pannepot Special Reserva' brand.
Over time, things have gotten a bit less clear, and now special versions have also been released as Pannepot Reserva, whilst some red wine barrel aged versions have been released under 'Pannepot Special Reserva' .
We - The Belgian Admins of Brewver - have decided to keep this entry only for the Wine BA versions of Pannepot. Either marketed as Reserva or Special reserva (essentially the same beer, different batch). If you happen to know the specific barrel (which was sometimes stated, but not always) you can rate that as a batch here. For other versions ( Bourbon BA, for instance) there's another entry.

Bottle thanks to my wife: Poured a dark brown to black with thin tan head that disappeared fast. Aroma is winey and oak, very woodsy. Taste is bold strong dark fruits, sweet caramel, malts, little woods, light burn still after these years. Very lively!

Bottle from Beautiful Beers. Almost black with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit, wood and red wine. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish with warming alcohol. Oily. 080719

Another of my highly desired acquisitions on our trip to Belgium and the Netherlands in the spring of this year. I was blown away by Struise Pannepot a couple of years ago. Now I have Reserva, vintage 2012, for comparison. I am using my favored Trappistes Rochefort glass, duh, for this one. A delightful arrival, I see a chocolate-amber liquid with a slight, slowly replenishing, taupe colored top. And the scent, great promise of things to come, berry, chocolate and sour dough bread. And now finally, a drink. My goodness, really fine. Dates, strawberry, grain, malt, milk chocolate (a recurring thread obviously), liqueur and an indication of the barrel aging. Creamy texture. Why can’t we get this in the states?

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with average, thick, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Fruity, woody, slightly vinous, dark malty aroma, notes of dreid fruit, raisin, fig, some treacle, vinous hints of blue grapes, oak, red wine, a minimally peppery and dusty, yeasty spicy touch. Taste is sweet-ish and dry woody, yeasty fruity, dark malty, slightly vinous, minimally alcoholic, hints of dark chocolate and treacle, notes of driéd fruit, raisin, fig, hints of blue grapes, red wine, oak, a peppery yeasty spicy touch, some fresher fruity notes of dark berries as well; lingering chocolately and slightly warming, alcoholic finish. Full body, oily texture, smooth and soft palate, fine and gentle but efficacious carbonation. Well balanced, harmonious - excellent!

On tap at Vrteška 2018, Belgrade. 2012 vintage. Dark brown, minimal head. Strong fruity aromas and alcohol, light wood or oak, dark cherry. Slightly tart, sweet and fruity, sour cherry, caramel. Alcohol hidden, medium body, very gentle, light finish.
