In the early days of Struise, Pannepot had a few different versions. Pannepot (regular) / pannepeut (slightly less rosted malts) , Pannepot Reserva (aged on wine barrels), and pannepot Grand Reserva (aged on wine + calvados barrels) . Other barrel types ( such as Port) were released under the 'Pannepot Special Reserva' brand.

Over time, things have gotten a bit less clear, and now special versions have also been released as Pannepot Reserva, whilst some red wine barrel aged versions have been released under 'Pannepot Special Reserva' .

We - The Belgian Admins of Brewver - have decided to keep this entry only for the Wine BA versions of Pannepot. Either marketed as Reserva or Special reserva (essentially the same beer, different batch). If you happen to know the specific barrel (which was sometimes stated, but not always) you can rate that as a batch here. For other versions ( Bourbon BA, for instance) there's another entry.

This 33 cl bottle came home with me from a Netherlands/Belgium cruise, an unexpected, appreciated find. The label indicates 2014 vintage. I tilt into my Straffe Hendrik glass and determine a corduroy brown body finished off with a slim, tan ring of foam. The smell is modest, I determine bread dough, nectarine and a touch of figs. A taste, hmm, it certainly gives out a vinous effect, toffee, grain, yellow fruit and a small bitterness ending. I like it certainly but not as much as other De Struise samplings.

11.05.2019. Almost black beer, a head is quite small and beige. Aroma has dried fruitness with raisin and prune, some grapes and barrel, also fresher apricot. Aroma has dried fruitness, raisin, prune, low dry barrel and grapes, hint of liquorice. Almost full bodied. Also this is the great version of Pannepot, the barreling is balanced. Edit 09.07.2022. Vintage 2014, bottled 24.04.2018. Still in the perfect condition. Increadible balance.

Mellow and highly complex. Rustic bread malts, strawberries, mushrooms, vanilla oak, prunes and pears. Lingering woody tannins. Good stuff!
