In the early days of Struise, Pannepot had a few different versions. Pannepot (regular) / pannepeut (slightly less rosted malts) , Pannepot Reserva (aged on wine barrels), and pannepot Grand Reserva (aged on wine + calvados barrels) . Other barrel types ( such as Port) were released under the 'Pannepot Special Reserva' brand.
Over time, things have gotten a bit less clear, and now special versions have also been released as Pannepot Reserva, whilst some red wine barrel aged versions have been released under 'Pannepot Special Reserva' .
We - The Belgian Admins of Brewver - have decided to keep this entry only for the Wine BA versions of Pannepot. Either marketed as Reserva or Special reserva (essentially the same beer, different batch). If you happen to know the specific barrel (which was sometimes stated, but not always) you can rate that as a batch here. For other versions ( Bourbon BA, for instance) there's another entry.

Rating #5002. $7.99 bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours dark brown, not quite black, but leaning that way. Small tan head. Aroma is oak, earth, alcohol, caramel, plum, light smoke, raisin. Flavor is barrel, alcohol, plum, caramel, raisin, hint of chocolate. Dry, lingering finish.

dark brown colour, half inch of dense beige-ish head, which disappears within a minute; aroma of burnt plum jam, raisin, dried cherry,dark chocolate, woody-tannines and red wine notes;; taste of burnt plum jam, dried sour cherry, dark chocolate, some dry red wine, burnt sugar, slight herbal liqueur-ish or licorice notes and minimal alcohol; as always: excellent!

Bottle at the hanging bat... Jan 2019...Thank Robert... Deep red brown... Thin tan lacing.. Soft rich sweet funk.. Big fruit.. Soft fruits nose.. Heavy sweet raisins.. Soft fruits.. Long red wine.. Soft rich soft big berries. Rich fruits.. Mellow fruits bottle at home.. March 2021... soft funk.. Lightest Pedro Ximinez... Light funk... soft woody malts... Light sweet woody chocolate roast.. soft sweet malts.. Light Pedro.. so wierd this quite Pedro 4.2

Bottle at tasting. Aroma of rich red wine, oak, vanilla, raisin, caramelised malt and tannine. Taste has subtle tannine, rich red wine, caramelised malt, mild tart, vanilla and oak. Very nice variant.

Dark almost opaque ruby colour, small steady beige head. Toasted, red wineous nose with some wood and earthy notes. Light to medium-bodied. Tart, wineous, tannines, toasty malts, dark fruits, wood in the flavour. I wonder if this has been so tart (tanniney) all the time. Now like drinking complex Flemish brown ale.

29 December 2018. Christmas beer evening; shared with Anke. Bottle from Dranken Geers. Vintage 2014. Pours hazy dark brown, red hue, with a very thin, lasting, foamy, tan head. Intense & rich aroma of port, walnut, red grape, blue plum, oak, sherry, dried prune, fig, fruit cake, raisin, blackcurrant, and faint green apple (acetaldehyde). Taste is light fruity sweet, dried prune, plum & red grape, very wine- or port-like, becoming medium fruity sour, some blackcurrant in the back; walnutty & woody bitter edge, very slightly toasty, hint of caramel. Tartness & fruity character remain in the dryish, peppery hoppy finish, lingering red fruits & wood, and a subtle dash of warming alcohol keeping a nice balance between red wine & port. Full body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. A true masterpiece, although I'm not the biggest fan of wine...

0,33 l bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with small light tan quickly dissipating head. Aroma is woody, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, toasted malt, dried fruit, vinous, very lightly sour and some alcohol. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Body is full, texture sticky and carbonation average. Finish is very long, dry, caramel and vanilla, medium sour and quite strong tannin bitterness. Vinous kind of sourness lingers for a while. Excellent.

Bottle 2014. Deep brown color, with a yellowish beige head. Aroma is spicy, toffee, licorice, dried fruits. Taste reveals similar notes, with a vinous touch. Medium carbonation, more than other long barrel aged versions. Very very good!
