In the early days of Struise, Pannepot had a few different versions. Pannepot (regular) / pannepeut (slightly less rosted malts) , Pannepot Reserva (aged on wine barrels), and pannepot Grand Reserva (aged on wine + calvados barrels) . Other barrel types ( such as Port) were released under the 'Pannepot Special Reserva' brand.
Over time, things have gotten a bit less clear, and now special versions have also been released as Pannepot Reserva, whilst some red wine barrel aged versions have been released under 'Pannepot Special Reserva' .
We - The Belgian Admins of Brewver - have decided to keep this entry only for the Wine BA versions of Pannepot. Either marketed as Reserva or Special reserva (essentially the same beer, different batch). If you happen to know the specific barrel (which was sometimes stated, but not always) you can rate that as a batch here. For other versions ( Bourbon BA, for instance) there's another entry.

Thin light brown head left a collar on a deep mahogany coloured still body. Sherry, boozy & woody aroma. Woody, sherry, vinous & malt aroma with red wine finish. Lovely.

Seemed a good idea at the time. Donkerbruin met zonder schuim. Zoet, rogge, bitter, roast, donkere caramel fudge, dadels. Volle body, smakelijke dikke lap bruin bier.

Dark brown, rocky head. Very intensive aroma of red wine, vanilla, wood, red and dark fruits, caramel, raisins, some chocolate, spices. Very complex and pleasant. Taste of dry red wine, vanilla, caramel, lemon, raisins, hint of chocolate. Very sour. Drinkable. Medium carbonation, well hidden alcohol. Very tasty.

330ml bottle. 2010 edition. Pours dark brown with ruby hints with a tan head Aroma: dark fruits, red wine, oak, booze, and some spice. The taste follows, dried fruits, dark fruits, more spices. Medium to full body with light carbonation.

Bottled 330ml. -from Goblet Zagreb. Black coloured, small brownish head, wood and alcohool in the nose. Toasted malt, caramel, nutty and alcoholic with notes of wood and touch of dried fruits. Also wax like sweetness.

APPEARANCE: strong gusher; brown, cola like color with deep mahogany and dark cheery like hues under the light, beige to brownish head, not stable or lasting; small ring of tiny bubbles on the side of the glass, moderate lacing
AROMA: fairly complex and layered on the nose, loads of toasted sugars, sweet malts and dried fruits; light red wine tartness but doesn't feel infected; caramel, brown sugar, hints of butterscotch, notes of figs, raisins, prunes, stewed apples, dusty barrel/wood, gentle tannins, festive bread with hints of ginger, subtle cellar floor, earth and bread dough, walnut oil/nutty, very soft hint of sweet liquor like alcohol in the background,
TASTE: smooth and soft creamy carbonation, slightly oily and syrupy texture, medium to medium high body; restrained sweetness of toasted sugars, brown sugar, mild caramel, candi sugar, notes of sharp red and dried fruits, hints of butterscotch, festive bread soaked in red wine, old bread crumbs, moderate tannic bitterness from oak barrels cuts through the base, bitter bread crust, hints of dried dark cherries and berries, subtle smoke and minerals in the background, faint impressions of corn meal/corn bread; hints of earth and soft vinous alcohol; with sediment a tad bit more tart but not in unpleasant way (probably not intended)
OVERALL: too bad for gushing; definitely pleasant sipper with nice tannic bite and soft vinous tartness; doesn't feel infected but there is some degree of dirtyness on the edges; it's showing some age but not oxidized

33 Bottle. My rating # 19.000. Pours nearly black with a small beige head and lacings. Deep vinous nose of dark dried fruit, wood, tobacco, red wine, chewy caramel and chocolate. Super complex and intense. Taste is similar. Slick and a gentle warmth and tannins. Amazing.
