Very good, just off-white head over veiled ochre-golden beer, lively carbonated. Horseblanket, shellfish, mineral, farmyard, sour apples, lemonpeel. And, if you think on it, indeed whiskey. Fresh lemony/lactic gueuze with faint lemonpeel, lactic acid, green apples, horseblanket. Yuzu or other exotic citrus, white wood. Sharp, but not agressive. Lipsmacking acidity, dry-out effect. Very well-carbonated. Really good gueuze, but I find the whiskey pretty hidden.

2024 bottle. Bit hazy dark golden with very big lively head. Vanilla, oak, dank cellar funk, there's a ton if whisky in here! Quite fruity with peach, apricot and some apple. Medium sweet and sour. Full bodied. Nice!

Mycket gott

750mL bottle at the International Geuze & Kriek festival. Pours hazy blonde with a white head. Gentle whiskey barrels and old furniture on the nose. Flavour has tons of fairly harsh whiskey barrels, old wood, mildew. Harsh.

750mL bottle at International Geuze & Kriek Festival 2025, pours a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma has moderately funky whiskey, some horse blanket, and subtle leather. Flavour has a great balance between the whiskey barrels and the horse blanket, with the smoky barrel character not subduing but instead complementing the funk. Really nicely composed.

A slightly hazy orange golden beer with a small white head. Aroma of wood, mild peated malt, tart fruits. Taste of wood, oak, brett, tart grapes.

Bottle. Color: Lightly hazy golden, large white head. Aroma: Moderate tart and sweet, fruity citrus, oak wood. Taste: Moderate to over moderate tart, light to moderate sweetness, very light bitterness. Mix of fruity citrus, hints of lemon, rural funk, hay and hints of Whisky. Some yogurt and hints of stone fruit at the finish. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Interesting mix of flavors. Nice one.

Limited edition 'new' Eylenbosch geuze, blended from lambics that were partially aged on whisky barrels; only 1500 bottles were made apparently, as this was a one-off created for the Toer de Geuze 2024. Thick and frothy, audibly crackling, egg-white, pillowy head over a misty orangey peach-golden robe with lively sparkling. Rich nose of cooked gooseberries, yellow plums, vanilla and indeed a whiff of Speyside whisky, moldy orange, sweaty feet, white pepper (probably also the whisky), fried storage apples, wet wood, dry cheese rind, old jute, medlar, persimmon. Crisp onset, dryish but fruity with notes of ripe yellow plum, purple gooseberry, unripe persimmon and even a vague peachy sweetishness (from the whisky I reckon); very lively fizzing carbonation through a bready, even slightly biscuity base, with a seemingly sweetish element which - like that peachy fruitiness - probably comes purely from the whisky. Yoghurty lactic tartness and woody tannins keep everything in check, while this generous fruitiness (ripe gooseberries, plum, even some pear at this point) continues unabatedly, adorned with a vanillin hint from the wood and the whisky. A slight lemony accent adds 'fraîcheur' but as a whole, this geuze remains very 'mals', yet still credible and complex; mild cheesy notes in the finish, but low bitterness. A very fruity, almost 'autumny' geuze, with the whisky adding a sweet touch of vanilla, biscuit and peach and softening a-everything, as it did in the very few other 'whisky geuzes' I had so far; I think this flavour combination is worth investigating further because at least in this particular case, it has worked out beautifully. A gem, too bad I did not buy another bottle while I had the chance!

Bottle from Robbe, thanks! Hazy golden colour, white foam. Nose is lemony with Woody and vinous notes. Quite citrussy, some bitterness, tart finish. Not the most complex geuze, a bit unbalanced. Where is the Whisky?
