Tested all of the Asahi yeast-series beers the same evening, thanks to Kjetil at NØ. The most interesting aspect with these four beers experiment is the fact that they are all made identical. The only difference is the type of yeast. The beer itself is a commercial lager and not very interesting itself. You have to dive deep inside the glass (and yourself) to search for greater variations. All of them are golden pale with a small head. This one is brewed with ale yeast ant therefore the one I was expecting most from. But I have to say I was disappointed. Little aroma, neutral bitterness, almost the same as 111. The main difference here is actually lower carbonation. A fun experience, but I really believe this would be much funnier with more characteristic beers.

Can. The last of the Asahi "yeast experiment", this one being brewed with ale yeast. Like the three lager beers, it is pale golden, but it has almost no head and low carbonation. The aroma is very short, with malt, hops and some wet cardboard. The flavor is malty and has a apple-note. It is a interesting experiment, making four beers with the yeast being the only difference in the recipt, but maybe it would be more interesting doing the same with a more interesting beer? (060103)
