Once upon a time long ago, beyond seven mountains and seven seas lived three wise monkeys – Mizaru, Kikazaru and Iwazaru. These monkeys were the symbols of good thoughts, good words and good deeds.

No, it is not another story. Actually, these three were quite normal master brewers, not long ago but quite recently, and not far away but right here in Estonia. They were not a symbol of something; they just brewed beer.

So! Three master brewers got together and decided to make a beer. Since there is not enough room for too many cooks around the one pot, the master brewers just agreed on the recipe and everyone went to their brewery to brew beer. It resulted in Lehe Triplet, Õllenaudi Triplet and Vormsi Triplet. This way, everyone can see for themselves what is more important – genes or home parenting.

33 cl bottle @ home. Batch #1: BBE 26.08.2015
Vertical with other Kolmiks
Aroma has harsh, bready malt, nuts and hints of hay. Somewhat syrupy. Flavour is quite close to aroma with bready malt, hay and some nuts. Some gluey notes in the background. Also metallic notes occur after some sips.

Bottle, batch 1. Pours dark brown with light brown head. The head doesn’t stay. Aroma is malt, caramel, sweetness. Flavor is sweet, caramel, malt, nutty. Body is watery. Overall: drinkable. We didn’t do blind tasting, but I would have recognized it was Lehe without much effort, the watery body was so obvious. I still don’t like it, hence it was the worst out of the three.

33cl bottle from Pothouse, Tallinn. Pours clear brown with a slightly reddish hue and a rather small, beige head. Fairly malty aroma with some bready notes, mild fruity notes, caramel and hints of herbal hops. Moderate to medium sweet with mild, but pleasant flavours and a fairly light bitterness. Balanced and session able, but hardly very memorable.
