On tap @ the brewpub. Black body with a medium sized, dense expresso like head. Lovely aroma of dark roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Flavor is medium sweet, dark roasted malt, lots of coffee and some dark chocolate with medium bitterness. Fine balanced body and good aftertaste. Quite impressive all the way considering the relatively moderate ABV, strong flavor and rather complex within the limits of no nonsense roasted malt expression. Very enjoyable.

On tap at the brewpub. It pours a dark brown to black body and a small, dense, dark beige head. There’s quite a lot of licorice on the nose, with roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate notes and something reminiscent of tonka beans and cocoa. It’s full bodied and soft on the palate, quite dry, but with some sweetness. Dark chocolate, coffee, tonka beans and cocoa in the quite bitter flavor. Lasting finish with the tonka bean more present than initially. Quite lovely this one, especially like the subtle tonka touch. 141018
