Draught @ Christianssand Brygghus, Kristiansand
Pours hazy brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, yeast, some fruitiness and hint of banana. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long yeasty and fruity finish., Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap @ the brewpub. Unclear “dirty” brown body with a small beige head. Aroma is caramel malt, toffee, some toast and yeast. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, milk chocolate, light toast, some dry fruit and yeast. Not much bitterness. Fine body but too sweet in aftertaste. It’s brown ale and it tastes like a Belgium ale, but something is missing compared with the best Belgium samples. Even with these sweet types of beer they tend to not becoming sticky. This one was actually close to unpleasant sweet at the last part of my glass. Maybe a bit higher alcohol would make a better balance?

On tap at the brewpub. It’s an unclear milk chocolate brown beer with a dense finger thick dark beige head. The aroma is perhaps a bit much more on the banana side than I’d prefer, but nice anyway. Roasted malts, some dried fruits and caramel, and a little yeast note. It’s full bodied and soft on the palate, still quite heavily carbonated. Semi-dry. Roasted malts, caramel, raisin hints, some milk chocolate and banana. Phenols. A fine bitterness deals easily with the little sweetness there is. Lasting finish. Drinks easily this one, tastes fine too, but I’d tone down the banana if I were to choose. 150204
