On tap @ the brewpub. Slightly unclear dark golden/amber body with a thin but lacing off-white head. Aroma has malt, caramel and a nice light hint of various Christmas spices that’s difficult to identify at first. Flavor is sweet, smooth malt, fruity with light caramel and again this undefined Christmas spiciness. Fine body and pleasant aftertaste. The spice flavor is really fascinating here, at the 2/3 of my glass it feels so integrated that I really have problems sorting out what it is except that it’s Christmas spices. First at the bottom of my glass as the beer is getting warmer I got ginger and cardamom. It’s not weak at all, just very well balanced in a matter that nothing really stands out by its own. Really nice.

On tap at the brewpub. It pours a lightly hazy dark amber colored body and a dense finger thick head. Nice curtains. The aroma has a distinct spice touch, almost sourish, with some roasted malts and caramel. Cloves, ginger and cardamom. Some chocolate resembling hints in the flavor, with roasted malts, caramel sweetness, a decent bitterness and a pleasant spice flavor. Medium to full body with a nice carbonation. Dry towards the finish. I think I’d prefer it fuller and more flavorful in all aspects, but it’s sure a fine brew anyway, and it drinks easily. 141210
