Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long chocolate, roasted malt and coffee finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at the brewpub. A very dark brown beer clear looking, with a dense, finger thick dark beige head. Nice lacing. Roasted coffee-ish aroma with nuts, prunes and dark chocolate. It’s full bodied, smooth and nicely carbonated, with lots of roasted malts and coffee and a subtle bitterness. Some bread and nuts. Lasting roasted malts dominated finish. Some vegetal hints pull down the score slightly. 170310

On tap @ the brewpub. Dark brown body with a stable, lacing, big beige head. Aroma has caramel, toast and fresh bread. Flavor is rather sweet malt, caramel, toast and fruity bitterness. Full bodied and long lasting bitter aftertaste. A smooth and tasty big brown ale that has a fine and balanced flavor. It still feels like nothing else than a brown ale despite it has a lot of everything. The balance is great and nothing seems to be overdone or displace anything else. My kind of brown ale, the only negative thing might be a bit too heavy carbonation. This make it feels a bit more aggressive than carm, and I prefer my darker beers carm. But it’s no big deal really.
