Een prachtig donker tarwebiertje, vol van smaak en met een mooie schuimkraag. Ooit begonnen als proefbier, maar wegens groot succes inmiddels opgenomen in het vaste assortiment.
Het bier is toen gedoopt tot “Skutehôn”, naar een prachtig natuurgebied dat vlak achter de Amelander Bierbrouwerij ligt.

Iets troebele gouden kleur met vrijwel wit schuim, goeie wandplak. Geur: nogal wortig, iets kruidig en zoetig. Smaak is iets bitter met een licht zoetje en iets fruitzurig. Lichte body. Ik heb toch een beetje het idee dat dit de blond was, maar goed. Ik heb het nog eens extra gevraagd en er werd me verzekerd dat het de donker tarwe.

Bottle at home. Aroma is wheat, malt, boiled vegetables, dimethyl sulfide, yeast, ripe fruits, spices. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and light bitter with some light wheaty sourness. Body is medium. I couldn’t get past the unpalatable boiled vegetables aroma. Bad bottle? I see only one other person reporting this blatant off-flavour.

Bottle 0,3 ltr: Cloudy amber coloured brew with an dry bitter taste with some sweetness of caramel, other hints are the coriander.

330ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, redd-ish, amber colour with huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, sulphureous head. Wheaty malty and yeasty fruity aroma, a touch of red berries, rather unspecific fruitiness overall, minimally waxy overtones. Taste is sweet-ish, wheaty and caramel malty, slightly yeasty fruity, hints of red berries, strawberry, frozen strawberry, mildly bitter hoppy counterpart. Slightly creamy, watery texture, smooth palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Rather untypical Dunkelweizen, quite sweet and fruity - interesting.

Op tap bij de brouwerij. Mistig amber kleur, witte kraag. Zoet, caramel, hint van banaan en licht kruidig, gestoofd fruit, degelijk bitter. Lichte body, plakkerig. Geen geweldig bier.

0,3 l bottle from my brother´s last Ameland stay. Thanks a lot! Unclear pale amber in the glass with a small head. Sweet malty on the nose, wheat. Taste starts alcoholic, marzipan, fruity. Dry elements in the middle part. Peach fruity to the end. Low carbonated. No easy drinkin´ stuff.

Huge thanks to WillemsUrenkel for that one! Bottle looks very simple, but okay. Beer in the glass zippy, but almost no head. Starts intense malty, roasty, light moldy, some grasy-earthy notes. Light alcoholic. Finish more balanced. Nice!

Bottle bought directly at the brewery. Cloudy, dark amber with thick, but quite unstable head. Aroma of malt, light bread, vegetables, and dried fruit. Taste sweet with slightly fruity sourness and a little umami. High carbonation. Bitter aftertaste. Rerate 2016-01-24: Too much DMS; tastes like a beginner’s brew using malt extract. Not nice at all!

bruin/amber, helder met geel/witte kraag inhoud is bijna zo bruin als het flesje, kraag slinkt snel aroma: koriander, gist, gerst, tarwe, citrus, mout smaken: licht/medium zoet, medium bitter, geroosterde mouten, koriander, tarwe, graan, stevige smaken van graan/tarwe/gerst medium body, kleverig, normale co2, afdronk: bitter, zoetig en wat droog --- Beer merged from original tick of Skutehôn, donker tarwebier on 18 May 2018 at 15:08 - Score: 4.
