Firkin at Sugar Maple. Wow, this is what its all about. Brown black, opaque. Huge steady beige head. Extra soft and smooth on the palate. Cloudy chocolate tones. A touch oily, but simply a fantastic beer experience. Chocolate milk undertones. Luscious, world class subtlety. Perfect beer, really different experience than the bottle.

Cask @ Caley Sample Rooms. Pours an opaque black with a nice creamy head. The nose has burnt chocolate. The taste has dark bitter chocolate. The palate has a big structure, it has a creamy texture but I’m not completely happy with the end. It is burnt rather than refreshing. Overall, a big tastey beer but I only want one.

Cask at the Guildford Arms, Edinburgh. Pitch black with a foamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma with coffee. Rich, burnt flavor, very roasted, smoky, and relatively sweet. Stoutlike, and sweet. Medium to heavy body. Very nice.

Black color like 10W30 with a small bubble tan head that settles quickly to leave good lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate and alcohol, background of burnt espresso beans. Flavor starts with milk chocolate and progresses to roast coffee with a sourness permeating through it. Great body, as expected. Overall a nice beer, more roasted and more chocolate than the style would suggest, closer to a stout than an old ale.

Cask. Almost black colour, brown hue. Very creamy light brown head. Hoppy aroma. Flavour is also hoppy, sweet, fruity and salty. Soft creamy mouthfeel. Quite easy to drink and is gone far too quickly.

Cask@Pullman’s, Helsinki. Deep amber colour, mediumsized head. Aroma is wooden, mild roast, some caramel and mild nectary notes. Flavour is roasted malts, some caramel, wood and a lot of nectar. Aftertaste is mainly wooden with some mild notes of caramel. Not as good as the bottled one. Had a half pint of it the following day too, when the cask was otherwise similar, but the roasted and chocolaty notes had started growing a bunch, making the cask version almost as good as the bottled one.
