A classic combination of UK sourced Harlequin and Cascade from the USA work wonderfully well in this new Oakham cask aged black beer.

Expect spicy, fruity, blackcurrant and citrus lemon flavours with a hint of moreish grapefruit bitterness.

All on a complex base of chocolate, dark and crystal malts with flaked oats added for a soft and smooth mouthfeel.

Cask at Flowerpot, Derby. Pours almost black with minimal cream head and good lacing. There’s roasted malts and dark fruits in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet, smooth and fruity with roasted malts, mixed (bitter and floral)hops, dark fruits and traces of citrus and blackcurrants. Later on oats and traces of alcoholic strength come through as well leading to a dry, fruity and slightly bitter finish. This is excellent ! Wonderfully complex and pretty much uncategorisable.

Handpull cask at Corn Exchange (JDW), Leicester. Dark brown, almost black, a little bit of translucency, with a tight beige/khaki head on top. Aroma of chocolate, pine needles and a little bit of liquorice. Yes please. Taste of dark roast malt, light berry and plum, candied liquorice. Gritty bitterness in the finish. Medium oily body, fairly soft carbonation. Maybe a bit heavy-handed for what it is but I can certainly live with that.

Hand-pulled half-pint on 9th October 2024, Pheasant Inn and Brewhouse. White (ish) crown on a dark brown body. Roadside berries in the nose and taste, add in a roasted/toasted maltiness and you've got a decent beer in your hand.

Very dark brown with a frothy/bubbly tan head and dark berry fruits and raosted malt on the nose. Hope bitterness and raosted malt are nicely combined, there's some coffee bitterness ahead of a dry finish
