21/2/2026. Bottle at ITFC Beer share. From Beer Central, Sheffield. Nice pour. Lots of cherry. Roasted bitterness. Good body. Enjoyable.

Cask at The Star & Garter, Bromley. Bromley
Nose is cherry liqueur, dark chocolate, some red apple. Taste is cherry drops, liquorice, raisin, more red apple. Long liquorice backnote. Malty sweet & easy drinking (given the strength).

I find some cherry porters' a little overbearing, this one isn't although it's still quite rich tasting, with the fruit most evident in aroma and developing in its aftertaste. The barrel-ageing is evident and a tad boozy. Bitter-cherry, nothing sweet here. Drank on the 2nd January - the birthday 156 years ago today of Titanic engineer Anthony Frost who perished on the liner, so dedicated to him.

Bottle from Lupe Pintos. Clear ruby/brown body with a thin beige head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of cherry, roasted malt and strawberry laces. Flavour of cherry and a hint of coffee. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Light fizz. A tangy and fruity porter.

Deep dark brown, near black, with a frothy tan head and a really quite mellow roasted malt with a hint of cherry aroma. Creamy smooth, roasted malt up front, with tart cherry, the alcohol hit punches you a wee bit, some coffee bitterness and a hint of treacle weighs in ahead of a dry bitter finish.

330ml bottle at bod, Matlock. Mid-brown and clear, translucent. Very little head. I expected a lot of cherry aroma but I am not getting it. A bit of sweet fruit, some cola and a little dark malt. Taste is also not Runaway sweet but rather quite balanced with an avoiding bitterness gaining traction nearer the finish. Medium body, heavy carbonation. After having the reserve plum porter a while back, I had high hopes for this. Sadly it wasn't great.
