50 cl bottle. Almost black, creamy head. Aroma: caramel, a little burnt, light sweetness, a little chocolate and metal and jam. Taste: caramel, burnt, charred toast with jam, hint of chocolate, slightly watery dry finish, mediocre.

500ml bottle. Pours near black with brief beige head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, coffee, some sweetness; everything you would expect, lacks any intensity but ok. Its a mellow pleasant session stout, taste wise. Sweet but with enough bitterness to offset. Quite a bit of chocolate biscuit, light roast and hint of coffee bean and berry. Light bodied for the style but very drinkable. This is not for the stout purists. I suspect its more aimed at your average hobgoblin fans that may have only the occasional dark beer so somewhat toned down. However on the plus side its more sessionable than your average stout.

500ml bottle (as Hobgoblin Dark Stout, 4.1% ABV): BB 31st August 2025. Drank at home on 15th November 2024, black bodied, beige affair on top. Decent enough Stout without going overboard with any body depth or strong flavours. Light sweetness, some coffee and chocolate notes, but enough to get excited about. It's a supermarket Stout and it's not going to upset anybody.

Bottiglia.

50 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Lidl Culemborg. Black with a beige head. Roasted malts aroma. Sweet taste with a nice roasted malts bitter finish. Thin but tasty.

23/2/2023. Draught at The Arbor House, Ipswich. Poured close to black with a ruby brown tint and a long lasting creamy beige head, into a nifty new theoretically undroppable Hobgoblin branded glass. Aroma is mild roasted malt, chocolate, light coffee, cocoa, dark fruits. Medium sweetness, light to moderate bitterness. Moderate body, smooth, a little watery, light carbonation. Quite likeable.
Black.malty and smooth.coffee.low hoppiness. low bitterness.easy to drink.watery though. Bbe:31/07/2024
