Can from LCB, 8 months still in date. Pours near black with small beige head. Aroma is sweet with mostly chocolate but also dark malts and hint of hazelnuts and coffee beans. Taste of chocolate flavouring, some nuts, dark malts. Sweet with a modest roasty bitterness which prevents it being sickly. Medium bodied, slick. A little sweet and limited but quite nice. However, according to the blurb on the can this was brewed with 7 different malts and then they stick so much chocolate flavouring and lactose in to make that rather irrelevant. This is a chocolate beer and any malt complexity is masked.

Monday 8th April 2024, Skipton Pub Crawl with Ant, Maureen, Margie, Auntie Sue and me, plus Tilly and Bertie (the dogs). Hand-pulled half-pint in the Boat House. Black with a tanned topping. Nice chocolate and nutty flavour, body is richer than the 4.9% ABV should be, on the sweet side for sure, but I really liked it.

Cask @ D'Ale House, Rochdale. Dark ale with a good blast of chocolate in both aroma and taste. Has an off-white creamy head and is perhaps a little dense in texture to make this sweetened porter sessionable.
