Cask at the Pump House, Shirley, Solihull. Poured a clear medium amber colour with a lasting frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is malt, nutty, light hops. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a smooth, rich, malty, earthy, nutty, light toffee caramel, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A super English bitter!

Cask @ Regal Moon, Rochdale. Dark amber with a creamy head. Orange fruit is very evident as a sweet aroma, but quite bitter in taste whilst retaining plenty of the fruit. Interesting winter warmer.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours “bitter brown” with a small off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has lemongrass and some hints of summer fruits. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a creamy texture. Flavour starts off with malts and biscuits and a hint of apples, but later some traditional hops come through with traces of mango, leading to a somewhat bitter finish. This is a reasonable old school strong bitter.

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A hazy amber pour with a tight cream head; fruity aroma; fruity taste with a malty body; and a dry finish with a gentle bitterness. Fruit cake in a glass.

Aroma of blood orange, citrus, rhubarb, malt, caramel, grapefruit, bread. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness, touch of citric tart. Medium body, oily, average carbonation.
