Cask at Furnace, Derby. Pours almost black with minimal off-white head. There’s malts and milky coffee in the aroma. Roast malts again in the mouth, but they are outshone by a fairly intense burst of liquorice. Hints to of vanilla, lactose and coffee – even some chocolate coming through later. Finish is slightly dry. This is quite nice.

Cask @ D'Ale House, Rochdale. Extremely dark amber, but not quite mahogany or brown, but getting close, with a creamy-smooth head. Hoppy dark-malty taste with its porter styling very stated in its aftertaste. Has lots of dark malt evident in aroma too with a sweetness about all aspects too.
