Can from Dok.
A: hazy black, stable, foamy, tan head.
A: pink grapefruit, mango, pine resin, toast, red onion.
T: restrainedly sweetish raisin, bitter grapefruit, pine, toast.
F: piney hops, resinous, grapefruit.
P: medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation.
Aroma could have been 'fresher', but quite good all in all.

Magus, mõru, röstine, kuiv, kohv, tsitrus. Ok, humal võiks agressiivsem olla.

Black IPA without unnecessary frills by Dok - it was about time they came up with this, at last. From tap at Welkom. Thick and frothy, shred-lacing, stable, pale yellowish beige, dense head on a black beer with coppery glow at the edges. Aroma of wormwood, toast, salmiak, burnt currants, something sweaty, charcoal, dried black beans, coffee grounds, deep-fried parsley, dry caramel, Camembert, black olives, dandelions. Dryish, spritzy onset, some black olive umami and very vague old raisin but hardly any sweetness (and none required of course), oily mouthfeel, remaining dry with a hard-caramelly, toasty-bitter core, coffee grounds roastiness enhanced by orange pith- and wormwood-like hop bitterness, very peppery, long and a tad earthy. Typical 'Euro' BIPA I would argue: a bit more colourful hop aroma (preferably citric or piney) would have defined the 'IPA' part in 'black IPA' a bit more, as is usually the issue with BIPAs brewed in Europe, but other than that, it surely delivers and does not disappoint to someone craving more of these. I could be mistaken and it may have been the setting, but I sensed a link with Brouwbar's BIPA, which was locally popular among patrons of the brewpub that formerly housed in the same building... If there has been some inspiration coming from that recent past, then it clearly worked out very well.

330ml can. Cloudy, dark brown colour with ruby shimmer and average, dense, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark beige to tan head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty and slightly citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, hints of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, mandarine, orange, zesty overtones with a touch of orange peel. Taste is bitter, zesty, citrusy fruity and slightly grassy-spicy hoppy, roasty, chocolately, dark malty basis with subtle residual sweetness, notes of coffee, instant coffee, some dry cocoa, hints of orange, orange peel; bitter, grassy spicy finish, additional (roasty malty) coffee grounds bitterness. Watery texture, dry palate, medium to fine, prickly carbonation. Well crafted, well balanced, especially concerning the aroma; could be a tad more fruity hoppy in taste - very nice.

Draught Small tan head over quasi black beer. Very floral nose with asafoetida, dry straw, black cardamome, felt. Dry roast, dark grains and malts. Herbs, straw, charcoal roasted food. Feels quite well bodied, very slick, good carbonation. Quite likeable, sorry, lekkere , IPA.
