Barrel-Aged Ale with Coffee and Natural Flavors

Is there any other dessert that is as fun to say as “Tiramisu?” Even the translation is fun—“cheer me up.” Much like its namesake, this beer has layers of sweet, complex flavors of coffee and cocoa that should be enjoyed with friends at the end of a meal. Aged in Soft Red Wheat barrels from our friends at Holladay Distillery and brewed with espresso from our friends at The Roasterie.

Deep brown in color with no head. Aroma is a weird blend of coffee, cream and chemicals. Taste is coffee with a bitter, creamy finish.

Enjoy by September 6th 2025.

Very dark brown just short of black, small tan head of foam, some lacing.

Smell is sweet chocolate, big barrel aroma, coffee with some vanilla.

Taste is big chocolate and barrel, quite sweet, mild coffee, vanilla and alcohol.

Fairly thick bodied, lightish carbonation.

Good.

Aromas are dark malt, roast, coffee, caramel, cocoa and vanilla. Flavors are similar to nose, thankfully not overpoweringly sweet with coffee, coconut and dark malt come out stronger. Enough bitter and just ride carbonation to balance. Finish follows flavors and is boozy. I don't see it getting much better with age.

2024 bottle from Total Wine. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of brown head that dissipates. Deep, rich espresso aromas with mascarpone, vanilla and cream as it warms. Some bourbon notes peak out with more vanilla, cream and espresso on the palate. Finish start with cream and vanilla with bourbon and lingering finely ground espresso bitterness that lingers on the finish.
